We are pleased to announce the 1st workshop of the Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics and the Paris APC and LPNHE Cosmology groups for September 14-18, 2009. The 5 day workshop will be jointly hosted by the Laboratoire Astroparticule et Cosmologie (APC) at the University Denis Diderot (Paris 7) and the Laboratoire de Physique Nucleaire et des Haute Energies (LPNHE) at the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6).

The workshop is open to researchers from all institutions, although the total number of participants is limited to 50, with a July 14 deadline. Registration is thus now closed

The evening session of invited talks, focused talks, and discussion will be available for remote viewing and possibly interaction.

The program focuses on detailed discussions of insights into the nature of dark energy, cosmology, and fundamental physics from current and future experiments. To permit a productive depth of discussion, this workshop concentrates on the use of supernovae and baryon acoustic oscillations as cosmological probes, although other techniques will be included. Key topics for working discussions will be developments in progress and still needed in systematics control and observations, and areas of complementarity for ground and space based observations.
